Welcome, Springtime

What I did today:

  • Took a bike ride with my oldest daughter.
  • Swang on the porch swing.
  • Ran up and down the sidewalk with my 2-year-old son who kept saying, “Run, Daddy! Run!”
  • Drew pictures with sidewalk chalk.
  • Visited with neighbors.
  • Watched my two daughters as they pretended to be princesses.
  • Walked down to Avanti’s for supper with the whole family.
  • Enjoyed the warmth and sunshine.

It was a good day.

Well. If it isn’t just like you to stir up controversial issues!

    Troublemakers!

You should inside, glued to your couch watching American Idol reruns. Enough with this rabble rousing outdoors.

CJ congratulations on having the opportunity and taking it to enjoy your family and the outdoors. Few people seize this wonderful time and its gone all too soon.

We spruced up the Sheridan Liquors planter, some plantings on Macqueen, and cleaned garbage and brush from the Ellis St. Project. Thanks to County Board member Allen Mayer who stopped by and got his hands dirty with us. Great weekend. Perhaps the beginning of a stunning farmer tan, I must say.

Today, opened up two windows for some fresh air, trimmed the front bushes, got rid of the last of the leaves. Went outside and enjoyed the crocuses, daffodils, and a few early tulips.

Countdown to Peoria City Beautiful Weekend 4-19-08. There are lots of projects available in areas all over the city. Pick one and join in.

Washington Park was probably the busiest I’ve ever seen it. It was a beautiful day for some disc golf. The gusty breeze added a nice randomness to every throw. :)

I did stuff yesterday… I wish I would have lived a little more…I wish we ALL would have lived a little more…like you did.

  • Damn, dude! Pace yourself!!! What are you going to do the rest of the Spring?? You’ve already done it all over this one weekend!!! :-)

    “swang” ????

  • Yeah, it’s the simple past tense of “swing.” It’s fallen out of common usage because people like to use (misuse) the past participle “swung” for the simple past tense as well. This is common in American English usage. For example, the move “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” should have been “Honey, I Shrank the Kids.”

“Swung” and “swang” are equally acceptable for the simple past tense of “swing” nowadays, although some dictionaries don’t list “swang” and others list it as obsolete or dialectal.
