Diane Vespa on WMBD radio

Diane Vespa has been getting quite a bit of press lately regarding the effort to reverse District 150’s decision to shorten the school day for 12 primary schools. I’ve heard her interviewed on WMBD radio news and WCBU news. Today, she sent me an audio clip of her interview on the Markley and Luciano Show on 1470 WMBD:

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

The audio clip includes Andy King of the Dream Center and his concerns about the shorter schedule and the problems it will create for children and families. Markley said it best about the shorter day: “This is a bunch of crap!”

Way to go, Diane! Keep up the good work. Staying in the news and keeping this issue high-profile keeps the heat on District 150. The decision must change.

KUDOS, KUDOS, KUDOS to Diane. Keep after ‘em! They cheat the kids out of education opportunities to maintain their own salaries.

  • Why does District 150 hate poor children? The middle and upper-economic class parents will put their kids in private school, or move to Dunlap or across the river?

    This is very good.

Sorry to derail, but CJ something VERY interesting has occurred in West Peoria. Do you have any information on home security systems selling door to door in Peoria?

I live in a predominantly white Catholic blue collar neighborhood and a couple weeks ago a black family moved in. Now all of a sudden this company comes in scaring the crap out of people quoting all these crime statistics and offering FREE home security systems.

    KCDAD,

As usual, you leave out all of the important info. What ’shade’ of black are they [carbon black, ivory black, ebony, onyx, charcoal black, milk chocolate, coco-butter, mocha-mint]? Anyone who knows anything about anything knows that the ’shade’ of black makes all the difference.

Please break-out your Munsell Color Chart and get back to us.

    Thank you for your vigilance.

  • I’ve heard of home security system scams in the Uplands before, but haven’t heard of it in West Peoria. What makes you think it’s related to your new neighbors?

I had a call yesterday from someone claiming to be doing a survey about neighborhood watch groups – he asked if i was worried about the violence in the neighborhood (which happens to be the current Grace Presbyterian neighborhood). I told him there wasn’t any violence. Heh, maybe there is – and that’s why Grace is moving way north away from the dangerous street the kids have to cross.

After the call I wished I’d answered with Gilda Radnor’s Emily Latella routine about violins on television – there are no violins, only pianos!

Coincidence. After they moved in, the Sheriffs have been here twice in the last week for no reason. There have been “officials” asking questions up and down the street about what we might have or have not seen.

I have spoken to a couple of my neighbors about this and they think it just a coincidence.
