Quick question about Kellar School

I just read in the Journal Star that “Keller Primary will be consolidated into one building.” Does that mean once it’s completed they will no longer close Mt. Hawley Road at Kellar during school hours? Anyone know? It doesn’t sound like there will be a need to close it once this upgrade is finished.

According to D150 policy “The District hires the most qualified personnel consistent with budget and staffing requirements and
in compliance with School Board policy on equal employment opportunities and minority
    recruitment.”

How was this possible with the recent hiring of the HR Director? The job was not posted or advertised.

bamMcDaniel – Do you live in Gorenz’s district?

  • bamcdaniel

Diane– I live in 2nd district (Alicia’s old one). I think Rachel Parker is my “rep” if you want to call her that. I have seen her at lots of PHS functions this last school year but never before then. I think she has a daughter that attends there. Why do you ask?

  • New Voice

    Nepotism in Peoria!?!?! No way!!!

As if breaking into that ‘inner-circle’ has ever been a problem for us ‘little people!’

  • diane

Because I believe that Gorenz’s seat is the next board seat available.

  • I heard through the grapevine that Hinton and Demke took classes together at WIU. I have no proof of this since I am not the record keeper for WIU. If it is true, it pays to network apparently.

My personal opinion is that if you are going to take my hard earned tax dollars then I would like to see someone who makes Peoria, or the surrounding area, their home get the job. In this economy, there must be people here looking who would qualify. I do not like the idea that someone from another town, who may or not be, traveling to another city they call home every weekend take my money. We need dedicated people who are willing to put Peoria first.

  • Oops…. I guess it pays to read up!

MAWB: I understand that there are 10-12 people in District 150 that are direct relatives of Mr. Hinton. Just like Charles Davis’ hiring. Mr. Hinton was “unaware” that Charles Davis was “dating” his daughter….shortly after his hiring they got married….can you say, yeah, sure…didn’t see that one coming…
Oh, he has nieces, nephews, cousins, children, in-laws, and “friends of the family”, not to mention school board members’ relatives. Way too many to mention…..IT IS BEYOND NEPOTISM…IT”S FAVORITISM!

CJ: Huh? Why would there still be movement between the two buildings? What’s the point of consolidating into one if that’s the case? On the other hand, what are they planning to do with the other building?

Perhaps that will be where the new adult ed will be. I know Peoria wants to continue to educate & rehabilitate our convicts, people who most certainly are in need. Oh, wait…they’re gonna vote to do away with AE tonight. Any plans to continue it at Louckes or at Kellar? They can give the prisoners bus fare or add a few more hours time on their furlough passes so they can walk from 700 Main across from Peoria Library.

Diane – recently spoke with a D#150 staffer and they asked me how one of the candidates for BOE president has managed to garner a 4-vote majority on their candidacy? Well, I didn’t know the answer to that. The person went on to inform me that in their opinion, the former #150 employee/now school board member/BOE president candidate didn’t deserve the president’s spot. This person alleged that while employed at the District, the candidate’s car was repossessed and towed away in front of a number of District Admin Bldg staffers. For what it’s worth, I checked this story out with a couple of other current and former Admin staffers of my acquaintance and they verified that it did happen.

If this is true, won’t it just be great to have a BOE president of a district deep in red ink who had their car repossessed? What a confidence builder!

Here is an article I did on the promises made by Debbie Wolfmeyer while she was campaigning:

  • serenity

Good write up diane. Wolfmeyer has been a huge disappointment.

  • Sharon Crews

Yes, Diane–good job. Instant access to records certainly helps with transparency–think what governmental officials got away with before we could check up on them!

  • diane

Full disclosure – I didn’t do the research. Someone else did it and dropped it on my doorstep. I just posted it.

  • serenity

I wonder what promises Hinton made when he first came in. Have any news articles from then surfaced?

Oh, and what is the relationship of the Whittier Primary School principal (Renee Andrews) to Hinton. I know he was overly excited when she got the position. He is so easy to read. I love it when he is mad, it is soooooooooo obvious. I think the board members are afraid of him.

  • serenity

I also see Annette Johnson has been placed at Lincoln. She must be a friend of Hinton too. Some administrators who’s positions are eliminated are invited back to the classroom. Only if you are a friend or relative of Hinton is your job saved. This is getting more and more interesting.

Hinton will go down in history as the worst superintendent of District 150. He was not qualified when they invited him back (he was probably begging). He sure is not qualified now. Anyone who has to rely on so many consultants needs to go.

  • mahkno

Anyone see the half page advert in the Sunday paper from the Peoria Central High School Alumni assoc, imploring not to close Central?

  • teachingrocks

Why the remark about Mrs. Johnson? She was the principal at a school which was closed this year. She was moved to another school as a principal. I’m not sure this makes her some sort of cohort with the upper crust.

  • serenity

Its not about her personally. Its about how Hinton picks and chooses who get certain positions.

  • serenity

So Hinton says that our district will be the envy of the world once the new schools are opened. Hmmmm, I sure am not moving so my kids can go to the new Glen Oak. How about any of you?

  • Boo-frickin-hoo

Dr. Gorenz thought the comments from the audience were too harsh. He rotates on his thumbs as Hinton runs the district into the ground and he expects the community to be polite??

  • serenity

I find Gorenz to be rude and arrogant. IF he doesn’t like the truth then he needs to look at himself and make some changes.

  • diane

    Or step aside.

  • diane

Laura Petelle just asked for the data!!!! Yay Laura! This time will be different though because she won’t settle for an empty promise.

  • teachpia

Laura Petelle ought to shake things up over on Wisconsin. A trained attorney (Duke?) she is bright, inquisitive and should be a breath of fresh air. She’s more educated than most on that board. Diane, you stated, “Martha, on the other hand always looks and dresses professionally. I would be proud to have her represent us at School Board events.” Looking and dressing professionally should not be the only criteria for Board President. I can’t believe you’d think Ms. Ross would represent us well if you’ve ever heard her speak publicly. She may be “well educated,” but it hasn’t transferred into her public speaking skills. To be fair, I don’t believe Debbie Wolfmeyer is any better … I think both choices this time weren’t the best.
