WTVP has updated their site, and now all the “At Issue” episodes this season are online. You can see the interview with Ken Hinton by clicking here.
In addition to what I mentioned in a previous post, Hinton also stated that they’re planning to develop a “vo-tech” school.
Wow…. I have never seen Hinton talk in front of a camera before… I never realized how many tells he has…
I would love to hear what an expert would have to say about the truthfulness, candor and evasiveness of Hinton’s answers based upon this video…
I would rather be water-boarded than watch that.
I can’t believe I burned another 1/2 hour of my life listening to the crap he’s tossing around. The man doesn’t even know the grade levels in his buildings. I don’t think Washington Gifted is a K-8 building. And he’s turned several of his primary schools into K-5 because of his school closings.
Twenty-six kids in a 2nd or 3rd grade classroom and that’s okay with him?!? Has he stepped into a classroom at any of his schools in the last year? I’d love to see him come into some of the classrooms at my school and teach something. These classes don’t even have the “maximum” of 28 kids and I’d bet more than a dollar he couldn’t do it. C’mon, Ken. Get real or get out!
Just get out
Hinton…..tick tock…..times up!
Francis Hinton should NEVER have been named superintendent for D150. He wasn’t trained, qualified, or even groomed for any SUPERINTENDENT role! BTW do you wonder why I said Francis? Well…ol’ Francis didn’t like his birth name (maybe like the boy named Sue?)- so HE changed it to Ken…some name he thought was cool.
without malice: What’s in a name–what in the world is your point? His name has absolutely nothing to do with his ability as a superintendent. Sounds “malicious” to me. Can’t we objectively criticize the job Hinton is doing without arguments like this one?
without malice – and your given name would be what? inept? clueless? bitter-betty? C’mon, the personal attacks of your lot cloud the discussion that should occur. Our esteemed Congressman hired him and his judgement is beyond reproach – right diane? Shouldn’t the focus be on the change that is about to ensue?……. the challenges that remain?
Now Jim, um, I mean impartial, I already conceded that everyone makes mistakes. Positive change in this district can only take place AFTER Hinton’s departure.
Keep guessing…….but you don’t question the judgement of the one who put him there?
Was Ken Hinton voted on by a school board or did he occupy the position by force?
Are there any members of the school board during Hinton’s hiring that are still on the board today?
Has anyone criticized their actions as of this date?
I believe that only Martha was the only member of the present board when Ken was chosen; I don’t know how she voted. I know that Martha, Garry Allen, and Jan Deisler voted against ending Royster’s contract. However, I don’t remember if the same seven were still on the board when Hinton was chosen–and who voted for and against. I honestly believe the decision was unanimous. Martha may have been the only one who might have voted “no”–but I don’t remember that happening.
It really doesn’t matter who voted for or against his hiring. What does matter is how each of the board members votes on each issue proposed by Hinton. I have a hard time understanding how all the votes end up with a majority of “yes” votes. That indicates a kind of confidence in all his proposals that I just cannot explain. Does anyone know of any time there has been a majority vote that didn’t rubber stamp Hinton’s proposals?
Ken Hinton was appointed in July 2005 by the school board of that time, Alicia Butler was President and Sean Matheson was VP. Schock had left prior to the appointment.
but you don’t question the judgement of the one who put him there?
No Jim but I sure as heck question the judgement of those keeping him there.
PC: I retired in June 2005, so I thought that Hinton was superintendent before I left. I had forgotten about Fabish and Hinton as co-superintendents–starting in August 2004 per this PJS story:

Peoria Journal Star, The (IL)
School Board must do homework in hiring boss In Ken Hinton and Chuck Fabish District 150 has two highly respected and able educators who are excellent interim choices to help guide Peoria’s public schools through a very difficult period.
LMAO I love it! All you people do is put down Hinton’s job performance, some call him King Hinton, most want him out yesterday, you protest against him, say he doesn’t have the smarts to be the Super yet he has more education degrees than 90% of you and then, someone calls him “Francis” and you think that is berating him. Wow Hypocrites.
There is a difference between criticizing his performance and personal attacks. (Inept, rude, stupid are not personal attacks… making fun of someone’s name is)
yet, this is a rather bizarre comment.
“he has more education degrees than 90% of you”
What does that have to do with anything?
I believe fabish left at the end of December 04, Hinton was still on as a co superintendent, Board of ED kept him as quasi supt until he was qualified by education requirements, hence offical appointment in July 05.
To one and all.
My revelation last night about Hinton’s given name was not and I repeat NOT an attempt at making fun of his name of Francis. I actually have a beloved, now deceased relative by the same name , hence the boy named Sue comment came quickly to mind with fond memories. What I was doing plain and simple was to needle Hinton as I know he can fly in to a flurry when razzed about his name! Was it petty? Maybe, but I’ll needle him any time I want to! Right, Francis?
“Anyone touches my stuff, I’ll kill them. Anyone touches me I’ll kill them. Anyone calls me Francis, I’ll kill them”
“Alright Francis….”
Isn’t it “Lighten up there, Francis”?
Jane, good one!
