MEDIA ADVISORY
A lifelong Peorian and local businessman, Chuck Weaver, is announcing his candidacy for an at-large seat on the Peoria City Council. Join us at 2:00 on Tuesday, September 14th at the Main Street Commons development site on Main Street in Peoria to meet Chuck and find out why he is running.
of Peoria’s shadow government coming out into the light.
Mmmm a developer, specializing in sprawl. Doesn’t bode well.
Tagline from website:
” Chuck and Tim concentrate their developments in Central Illinois’ finest school districts.” As in Dunlap.

Who?
Here is your chance Peoria…. Make the change on City Council. Leave Gary on and then replace the rest and Vote in Chuck Weaver, CJ Summers, and Beth Akeson. It’s time to clean house.
Beth Akeson would make a super council person CJ also. Don’t know about Mr Weaver. Is Beth and CJ willing to run? If so they got my vote.
Mahkno, you might want to consider what the dude has to say before crucifying him.
Actions speak louder than words.
Just a thought…
Sometimes its better not to be on a council or committee because you are bound by their rules. If you are an independent citizen you can often do more good than being on the council. You can help those on the council to do the right job. CJ does a wonderful job on his blog. He keeps us all informed and does tremendous research and gives us a lot of information to work with. I’d far rather see him remain on the outside supporting those like Gary Sandburg than be constricted on a council. Also, when you have a family of small children they need to come first and foremost. He has to consider that also. I say all this because I come from a political family and I know what it can do to you. However, if he were to run I would support him 100% without a doubt. Beth too is a good one for the council. I like her politics. We’ve got some people on that council that have been there forever and its time to move them along and get new blood. I personally think they should have term limits and not be able to run for re-election time after time.
New blood, i like that.. I think Mr. Weaver can and will do a great job..He does a lot within our community. People shouldn’t judge until they have worked with others. I have work with a lot of very strong community leaders, And they don’t blow their horn.. I love strong leaders who can make a change , and give the credit to others.. My favorite saying is, Don’t judge a book by its cover, read a few chapters. We need new blood, however some of the older ones on there really get it.. Like Councilman Turner..
SD: One could always impose their own term limits when first seeking office. Candidates turned elected officials need to be accessible to their constituents … that is a common complaint that I am hearing.
CJ – are you considering a run? What about Beth? Is it true Chuck Grayeb is also considering? What about the antiPundit? We need good leadership!
I agree leave Gary on and CJ and Beth should run. Don’t know anything about Chuck Weaver so I can’t say. Replace all the others.
Yes Chuck Grayeb is going to run..
“Candidates turned elected officials need to be accessible to their constituents”
They are accessible to their constituents. Their constituents are those who agree with them and help them out. That’s politics tho.
If you were a developer, you wouldn’t develop anything in the east bluff or southside either. I guess you could, but you wouldn’t be int he development business very long. Perhaps instead of blaming the developers, we should be blaming the “authorities” of this city for making it an unattractive place to live, do business, develop, and work.
I don’t blame Chuck Weaver because he develops places where people want to go. It is just smart business. I do blame Jim Maloof, Dave Ransburg, Jim Ardis, Ken Hinton, Kay Royster, Barbara Van Auken, Ryan Spain, Bonnie Noble, etc. for their poor vision of the “next chicago” or “san francisco of the midwest” or whatever terrible idea is next. They all forget that before you can make the frosting, you have to have a cake. Make Peoria an attractive place to live, and the rest will follow.
Mahkno: Actually all the people in an elected official’s district are their constituents — ha ha, as if you didn’t know that. Just adds to the apathy when constituents are marginalized.
All I want to know is if Chuck or any other candidate is an independent thinker. If there is an Ardis endorsement then I am not voting for that candidate. Clean House Peoria!
Hi, my Dad is Chuck Weaver. He is a great man and I stand behind all he does. He loves the City of Peoria and has brought up my brother Jesse, sister Annie, and myself to do the same. Understandably many of you have questions and concerns as far as where my Dad wants to see the city improve and he wants to answer all these questions so feel free to contact him. I’m currently studying at the University of Alabama and haven’t been able to get the number for his campaign phone yet but as soon as I do I will post it here.
Unfortunately, some automatically trash a local guy who wants to enter public service because he has a prominent name. Some here don’t think before they talk.

I am just getting to know Chuck. So far am I impressed. He is meeting with a lot of people in the city to listen to their priorities, concerns. What works and what doesn’t. So far when frustration has been expressed about a project, policy, etc. His first question is “What you do think needs to be done better next time.” Learning from our mistakes is a great visionary quality.
Travis, I haven’t met you yet, but have the rest of your family. They are good people!.
Chuck’s part planted a sign outside my house without my permission. I plan on voting for the other guy just because of that.
@voting…that is definitely the wrong reason to pick or not pick a candidate. Why not call the number Travis posted and ask them to remove the sign? Me, I am looking into all the candidates. So far, C.J. and Beth have my vote, as does Gary. The other two are up for grabs, but from what I have heard about Weaver, he might get in, too.
Yeah, I hope nobody would vote for a candidate because of a sign placement. I don’t know Chuck Weaver, but I have heard nothing but good things about him.
I concur. I hope everyone makes a decision about whom to vote for based on the issues, and not mistaken yard sign placement.
Other guy – No legitimate candidate would put a sign where they didn’t get permission. Sometimes numbers (or N, S, E, and W) gets mixed up. There is a very high likelihood that the sign in your yard was a simple mistake. The polite (and democratic) approach would be to contact the campaign and ask them to pick up the sign.
District 150,do you really think the bad stuff will come out before the election? I’m just saying.
Personally,I won’t support anyone whose goal is to ‘bust unions.’Mr. Weaver what is your stance on Unions?
In the current climate, I believe that all of us who believe in the importance of union representation should definitely make voting decisions based on where candidates stand on this important issue. We know already that those opposed to unions will be casting their votes for the candidates who support their views. We know for sure that those who support unions should not vote for Jim Stowell.
K Tate, I’m just saying that I hope you wouldn’t vote against somebody over a sign placement. I’m just saying……
