The accounting firm Clifton Gunderson is has moved their firm’s headquarters from Peoria to Milwaukee, Wisconsin (well, technically Wauwatosa).
The move was announced over a year ago (April 2008), but was completed as of June 1 this year. In a statement, CEO Krista McMasters said “the decision will not have any immediate or long-term impact on the operations of the Peoria practice office.”
I would think at least some employees would be transfered to Milwaukee…. and they have a large office downtown. I hate to see them leave. Empty office space is not good.
From what I have heard moving the “HQ’ is more a symbolic thing than anything else because I think there new CEO is from that neck of the woods.
I’m curious on just how much office space is available downtown. Since Busey moved into the Becker Building (and put their sign on the roof), I think the Becker Building is pretty full… that being said, I’m not sure how much of the Commerce and Associated Bank buildings, or other office buildings downtown, are available.
Any office space that is available could be pretty easily determined by searching the commercial real estate listings. If anything, I would bet most of the vacant or nearly vacant space downtown is recently vacated CAT space since a good portion of their downtown workforce does not work in the HQ building.
CG had two offices in Peoria. One is the Peoira accounting practice and one was admin…HR, Marketing, etc. They were kept very appart in opperations. Sad to see the headquarters go as this is a Peoria company as much as CAT.
