Reforming Schools in PeoriaOn Friday, February 18, 2011, Mayor Jim Ardis will host a community meeting that includes elected officials, governmental bodies, educators, business leaders and staff members. The meeting will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., at Peoria City Hall, in Room 400.
The forum will include a presentation by Bob Darling, President of the Peoria Federation of Teachers Union, in conjunction with Dr. Patrick Dolan, a nationally recognized consultant in the field of education change and structure. The presentation is entitled Reforming Schools in Peoria. The topic relates to efforts by Mr. Darling and Dr. Dolan to move into a new era of education unionism.

Mr. Stowell- Does the leader that you speak so highly of own a watch? From what I hear she is late to almost every meeting. Is that the best 150 can do? Doesn’t the board hold the administration accountable?
@ Teacher: I was “outed” several months ago by the same person who did it to you. I am a private citizen who chooses to remain relatively anonymous (I only use one post name and many people know my real name.) I, too, had posted disagreeing with Mr. Stowell’s position on an issue. He chooses to post under his own name. I do not.
Using a person’s real name in reply to someone who posts under a pseudonym is a fairly egregious breach of blog etiquette. Most of us know better. Sigh.

She’s late to meetings. Seriously. That’s your complaint? I think you are better moving across the river.
Billy–I think it’s a bit more serious than just once in a while. I attended a meeting at City Hall–one of Dr. Lathan’s brown bag it series. City employees had been asked to take time off from their jobs to come. The press was there, etc. I’d say that Dr. Lathan was a good 20 minutes late–and I didn’t hear any apologies. I thought that was rude considering that people took time off from jobs, etc., to attend. I know that she has been late other times when teachers, etc., are expected to be on time–but sit waiting for her arrival.

IT’S BEEN LIKE 7 HOURS SINCE THE SNOWSTORM!!! WHY HASN’T MY STREET BEEN PLOWED???!!!
