The Journal Star’s editorial board got it right yesterday: Northmoor doesn’t require five lanes. They expressed many of the same concerns I have had regarding this proposal (here and here), and have come to the same conclusion: “Simply put, Northmoor doesn’t need to be five lanes.” Enough said.

they never met a road they didn’t like. There’s something else going on here.
Northmoor, may not need lanes, but it could use some curbs and sidewalks !!!
You’re right Makhno – sidewalks and curbs are really needed.
Wouldn’t this proposed expansion take some of the public golf course land? As I recall, a couple of those holes are pretty near Northmoor Road. I wonder what the Peoria golfers will have to say?
Us Peoria Golfers would be pissed!
The fourth green and fifth tee box would be most affected. The tee box especially. It butts right up against the boundary. If you’re driving by, they’re about in the middle of stretch of course that borders Northmoor.
On the flip-side, if they didn’t take any land but put the road closer to the course, you can expect more errant balls on Northmoor, joining the errant balls already flying over Sheridan and Knoxville.
Holy cow! You mean the city would be grabbing park land to expand. The horrors. As for golf, I guess I couldn’t care less if they take the green or not. I could never get pass the windmill.

2 lanes w/ a center turn can handle over 13,000 cars daily with nearly zero delay.
Also speed will be kept in check, it will leave plenty of room for possible on-street parking, sidewalks, a bike-walk trail and a comfortable setback from the houses along Northmor.
5 lanes are for arterials…major through-city routes that carry more than the local subdivision traffic that Northmor typically carries.
