First in . . . whoops!

According to this Journal Star story, this story is supposed to be First in Print:

Peoria’s population is likely going to be surpassed by Springfield and Joliet in totals once the 2010 U.S. Census figures are finalized next year. Still, Mayor Ardis says the city has done well to keep growing. LOCAL

But, what have we here? Why, the whole story is out on the web already! And it’s been out there since 8:42 p.m. Tuesday night. How long will it take for them to realize it?

  1. the city doesn’t grow but the MSA of Peoria which includes all the surronding communites pratically touching each other shows growth. Basically people like the city and what it offers but not enough to live in it becasue of the poor schools, crime, etc.
From a regional standpoint it is good but from a city standpoint it is bad.

  2. I don’t know much about Springfield. Is that city revitalizing, or simply annexing farmland. Is this the illusion of growth? Does anyone care to comment about Springfield?

    Ummmmm……

Ever been to Joliet? The eastern 2/3 of that city resembles East St. Louis. Joliet is doing o.k. because it is scrambling to annex subdivisions and farmland in outlying areas. Of course this does nothing to address the existing run-down, dangerous, and abandoned areas of the city. For fun, look at a roadmap and see the meandering village boundaries.

Does Peoria want to become another Joliet?

  3. So has the story about Wolfmeyer’s becoming BOE president again been in the PJS–I certainly didn’t see it? Also, it wasn’t on the blog. I would have thought the story would have merited a paragraph or two.
