Wow, I just realized after I published my last post that it has been over a week since I last posted to the blog. Did you miss me? Things have been busy at work, but my project is finished now, so I should be able to start posting again.
Did I miss anything this past week? Anything interesting in the news? 🙂
Yes, we missed you. Of course, there were 150 issues in the news: a lawsuit, a negotiations impasse, and charter school news.
I was waiting on baited breath….
I was expecting to see you comment about the PJ Star article on all of the development that our area can expect in 2010. I remember when you started a series about tax payer supported projects in Peoria and reviewed promise with performance. I wonder how the proposed museum and hotel will stand the test of time when we look back as we now can with One Technology, Riverplex, Ballpark, Civic Center expansion, Riverfront Platform, Gateway Building, Midtown, etc. I think that history has told us that the municipal/governmental bodies are not the best predictor of business success
CJ: Of course we missed you. Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year for you and your family. Thank you for all of your efforts by providing a forum for people to dialogue with each other. Invaluable resource.
Oh, and of course the museum project is out to cost more for taxpayers — go figure — more coal for our stockings!
Has anybody noticed the snow plows loaded with a mixture of salt and sand riding through their routes several times today doing absolutely nothing except wasting gas? They weren’t doing any spreading or anything at all. Do we have money set aside for this in the city budget? Are these drivers only allowed on these trucks or is there something else they can do until precipitation starts falling?
Just to catch you up:
Museum: Bad
Hotel: Bad
D150 administration: Bad
Teachers: Good
Here is an article about the search for a new superintendent for D150.

Amazing how they say the new super will make no less than $200,000 a year. Maybe we can get one to take the job and a salary commiserate of their success.
