Note to Journal Star: That would be the East Bluff

From today’s paper:

West Bluff man faces child pornography charge

PEORIA — A West Bluff man appeared in U.S. District Court on Thursday accused of having several hundred child porn photos as well as talking to minors on the Internet.

Jeffrey S. Ellington, 40, of 1500 N. Knoxville Ave., Apt. 11 stands charged with distribution of child pornography, a charge that could send him to prison for up to 20 years.

Knoxville Ave. is the dividing line between the west and east bluffs in Peoria. The way street numbering works here, even-numbered addresses are on the north and east side of streets, odd-numbered addresses are on the west and south side of streets. So “1500 N. Knoxville” would be on the east side of Knoxville, putting it in the East Bluff — not the West Bluff.

  1. I thought the headline might refer to what Bill Spears said about the East Bluff in regard to his proposed Expo library site:

Spears saw the Richwoods library proposal as a way to stabilize that area of the city.

“It could turn into the East Bluff very quickly,” he said.

  2. “Knoxville Ave. is the dividing line between the west and east bluffs in Peoria.”

It is? Mmm… I-74 is the dividing line. Knoxville does not border the West Bluff at all.

  3. Mahkno — According to the Journal Star’s neighborhood map, the west bluff extends north of I-74. Regardless, 1500 N. Knoxville is not in the West Bluff either way.

  4. Everyone, this is normal for the PJS. They can’t get most things right.

An I am East Bluff (1706 N. California Ave) resident, but the PJS might think otherwise.
I think that address is the old Caroline motor lodge.

  5. The Journal Star needs to get its act together. I grow tired of our West Bluff neighborhoods being maligned and misrepresented by the Journal Star.

  6. And I don’t like the East Bluff maligned by a city councilman.

“Spears saw the Richwoods library proposal as a way to stabilize that area of the city. “It could turn into the East Bluff very quickly,” he said.”

  7. “Spears saw the Richwoods library proposal as a way to stabilize that area of the city.

I agree with the last post. There are a lot of good, decent people that Live in the East bluff. Shame on you Mr Spears.

  8. If the Richwoods area is in danger of becoming an area of decline and crime, then we are in more trouble than I thought. I wonder what will happen if the library is located by Richwoods and say the Lakeview branch does have to be closed, and the museum moves, and say Bergners closes . . . the next East Bluff? Give me a break. . . Stop dictating where things go council . . . stop being a road block to businesses, the library board, and the school district. It’s called collaboration.
