I have nothing to say today. But if you do, please share!

It was reported last week that the Justice Dept. admitted in a court filing that vaccines “aggravate” autism. Funny how that stuff doesn’t get reported in the establishment press. I still see posters around town advertising “FLU SHOTS”, so go get your kids their (probably ineffective) flu shot. No doubt the medical industry needs the money, what with prices of almost everything going up (oh, I forgot, inflation is in check).
East Peoria is looking at building a “new downtown” on the vacant Cat property. That is what Peoria should be considering on the Sears block.
Mouse, I saw the same article on Yahoo! News, and the very next headline was immunizations save childrens lives.
Brad, I am in no way suggesting we stop all immunizations. I am suggesting that we: 1) work on making them safer;
2)reduce the number required, starting with unnecessary shots for chicken pox;
3) spread them out over a greater time rather than give more than one at a time;
4) do a better job of evaluating the individual’s needs/risks/etc.
IMHO, these decisions are made on a one-size-fits-all template motivated more by the desires of the medical industry, than what’s in the best interest of individuals (“patients” – I hate that word, its so demeaning).
Mouse: I’ll take “patient” over the ubiquitous “consumer” any day. :-/
I saw this story today too, but haven’t confirmed all the facts to post it.
There is a heated debate on my site about autism and vaccinations. Here’s the link to that page if you’re interested. Jen
I am thinking we need to “organize” against the pharmaceutical companies as well.
Open thread “Tuesday”: Lead story of the Journal Star today is that a huge athletic event (who knew there was a professional rolling skating association, or that they were that big) has booked Peoria for 2009. 10-12K hotel room nights — way bigger than March Madness. And nary a word in the blogosphere. Not even Mr. Dennis, who never seems to have a nice thing to say about the Civic Center or its impact on Peoria. (I’m not justifying the presence of the Civic Center, but its here, so lets market the hell out of it.)
Dear Sud O. Nym
How many of those skaters are going to stay in the new hotel across the river?
I do agree with you though, market the Civic Center. Perhaps a little ‘new blood’ at the top….? Most people want to know who is actually responsible for booking events at the CC.
