From my in-box:
Hedy Elliott and I (Jeff Adkins-Dutro) are running for vice president and president (respectively) of the Peoria Federation of Teachers. On March 8, 2009, from noon – 3pm, at Sky Harbor in West Peoria, Illinois, we will be hosting a campaign fundraiser. For fifteen bucks, you can take in a show by comedian Royce Elliott, eat lunch, drink tea or coffee, purchase beer from the cash bar (which will be running at least one beer special), and support our cause.
You can see what we’re all about by visiting futurepft.blogspot.com.
You can check out Royce Elliott on You Tube:
We are getting tickets printed today! Please shoot us an e-mail or give us a call if you’re interested. All are invited. PLEASE let your teacher friends know! We want to get as many voters there as possible!!! (309) 339-9210.
Here is an update… the tix are printed and ready to go! See you there 😉
PFT: Of course, I’ll be there.
Is this guy the source for the lame ‘Royce Crispies’ in the paper?
Royce is hilarious and refreshing. He never has to use obscenities to get a laugh. Just good old fashioned humor. Go listen to him. It’s only $15!
A conservative comedian is an oxymoron.
Well, I’ve heard him a lot and I’ve never made the connection that he is a conservative. How exactly, is a “conservative” comedian different than a “liberal” comedian, and if it is anyone other than Jon Stewart or David Letterman how would you know?
Conservatives make jokes about people and liberals make jokes about issues?
Royce does have his followers, and he is Hedy’s father. This is his effort to help her do what he knows that she and Jeff can do for District 150. That’s what is really important–not whether or not we will all be entertained–although I am of the generation that will be entertained. Fortunately, Jeff and Hedy are also interested in working for and with retirees who want to District 150 succeed.
I just had a lightbulb moment and realized that maybe Lewis meant conservative in the sense that it was “clean” humor. If that is the case he would have to include the likes of Rodney Dangerfield, Steve Martin, Dick Van Dyke… I’m sure there are more. Perhaps I’m showing my age, but I think these guys are some of the funniest comedians of all times!
Diane, I fear we are showing our age (at least, mine)–but thats OK–with age comes wisdom. Ha! (I haven’t learned how to do smiley faces).
Royce is so wide he can set off four automatic urinals at once.
What about Bill Cosby, George Kirby, and Russell Peters? (How is it that systemic racism can end up in even these types of discussions?)
I don’t think Rodney Dangerfield has ever been a “clean” comedian. Dick Van Dyke? Has he ever done stand up?
Bill cosby is a hoot. I’ve never heard of George Kirby and Russell Peters. Sorry.
