Worst case of mispronunciation

So my wife was listening to the new news guy on a popular AM news station in Peoria, and when he did the sponsor spot for Alive Tree Care, he said, “Keep your trees alive with aleeve Tree Care.”

Meanwhile, the station’s former news director (whom they demoted, leading to his taking a job in Springfield) just received the AP Newsfinder of the Year Award.

  1. That brings to mind one of my local radio pet peeves. Scott at 101.1, when referring to the station’s house band, mind you, for months called them Jamm SANDwich. It’s JammSAMMICH! I don’t listen to 101.1 as much now, but recently I heard a commercial Scott recorded and he pronounced it properly, so I hope he figured it out.

  2. Ha! You may or may not know that I used to play keyboards in JammSammich (1998-2002), so I’ve seen a number of ridiculous spellings for the band. My favorite was “Jamsasmuch” (pronounced “jams as much”).
