A new 88-room Country Inn & Suites will be built close to TGI Friday’s on War Memorial Drive near the Grand Prairie mall if the council approves the rezoning request tonight. Doug Currier got unanimous approval from the zoning board, and his request is part of the consent agenda for tonight’s meeting. The hotel will include banquet facilities and meeting rooms and, amazingly, is not requiring any city funds to be built.

Why don’t they put it in Kickapoo? Who will want to stay out there when they come to Peoria to do busines downtown or go to Civic Center activities; glad to be no part in this investment!
No tax break handouts? Could it be?
Roman, out of towners visiting family, friends, Dave Ransburg, shopping, not to mention right off the interstate and close to a bunch of restaurants. If downtown is their destination, 10-15 minutes to get there is not excessive. Its a nice hotel and they’ll do fine. Don’t be surprised to see a few more pop up.
I think we should spring for a parking deck. Everyone else has one, can we can we canweee????
And a Windgate Inn going up around the corner by Furniture Row.
