City giving out economic incentives

Similar to the economic incentives the federal government will be mailing starting in May, the City of Peoria has decided to give out $100 to homeowners to incentivize home repair and maintenance. The $100 will be distributed in the form of gift cards to Home Depot and can be picked up on the fifth floor of City Hall in the Office of Economic Incentives.

  1. Never know for sure. A lot goofier ideas have come out of City Hall. I wonder how many people will head over there today looking for their card?

  2. In fact, if you just call them instead of getting off your couch to go get it, city officials will bring your economic incentive check right to you, in person, with a special bonus gift basket.

  3. Awesome idea, I understand this is an offer of $100 per home, not per homeowner, so some of the communities rental property landlords, could actually be picking up thousands of $ of support assistance. With this incentive, we might even have some of the Dunlap folks moving back into the city limits.

  4. About as valid as Dennis’ report of a Councilperson resigning and seeking the City Manager job. Anybody know what day this is?

  5. I heard that if you don’t pick these up by 5 PM today they will be donated to the Museum fund.
