Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas

Regular readers of my blog over the past several years know that this is the time of year when I don’t do a lot of posting because of a heavy work schedule up until Christmas. So, before I go on hiatus, I just wanted to thank everyone for reading and commenting, and wish you all a happy Thanksgiving and a merry Christmas!

  1. CJ, I wish you and your family the best Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday that you can possibly have together. We’ve all had a hard year and hopefully the holidays will signal a better time to come.

  2. CJ – Happy Holidays to you and your family. I appreciate your efforts to keep us all informed about the important happenings in our community.

  3. CJ – You know your posts will be missed–but we will probably “keep the home fires burning” while you take the time off. Check on us now and then–but spend most of your time enjoying Thanksgiving and Christmas while you are involved in helping others to appreciate and enjoy these holidays.

  4. No doubt there is more than one elected rep who is glad you are taking a breather. 😉

Enjoy a wonderful and blessed Christmas season.

  5. So I am driving north on University, the ‘big’ block south of Lake. On the right side there is a sign, says ‘Sidewalk closed, use other side’. This is the part of the sidewalk along university there which has essentially no curb anymore. Of course the sidewalk is barricaded off. I am thinking… use other side… Hmm…. Not a crosswalk for a quarter mile of road in any direction. To use the other side is to risk life and limb crossing on a a stretch of University where 45 mph is the minimum.

Who plans this stuff? Why bother putting a sign there at all.

  6. Walked to pick my kids up from school, along the way I picked up a Bradley Scout from a pile that is conveniently stacked on Bacci Pizza’s door step. Headline grabbed my attention “Neighborhood relations ‘strained'”. You know… Moss Bradley versus BU Students. I’m like, here we go again. I skim it as I am walking.

    October 8’th 2008….. wtf.

Yep, someone thought it was a good idea put a stack thirteen month old newspapers on Bacci’s steps with that tantalizing headline. The papers were not at all weathered. Someone kept these well preserved. It is normal for there to be current BU Scouts there. Got me wondering if someone is trying to stir the pot.

Oh here is the article from 2008:

  7. Mahkno, the west, “open” side is worse. One section has branches that force you into traffic. It’s been like that for years. You’re better off staying on the east side and navigating around the barricades.

  8. Karrie, it’s not the Sigma Nu house. It is across the street, backs up to St Mark grade school. Classy.

  9. I think the best thing I could do for the community this Christmas is to do as much of my holiday shopping with locally-owned merchants as possible. They provide me with great service, have superior product knowledge, spend more of their proceeds with other locally-owned companies (which allow more dollars to stay in out local economy) and are part of what makes Peoria unique. Break the Chain habit! Shop local!

    Happy Holidays!

  10. EVERYBODY PLEASE HAVE A VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY TOMORROW. AND PLEASE BECAREFUL ON THE WET ROADS.

  11. Tomorrow is FINALLY the end of King Hinton’s lousy reign at District 150! Now in unison please sing along with me…na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey goodbye !

  12. I found it rather funny that Hinton was on PBS being interviewed this past week and he seemed to not get that he did a horrible job. He was arrogant and seemed very proud of himself and the board. Geesh. He also mentioned he was being pursued by another company. Hmmm, could that company start with and E?

  13. Would love to see the balance sheet of a company that is interested in hiring the likes of Ken Hinton. They must think they have too much money.

  14. I would have been more apt to defend Hinton if he had made wise educational decisions but poor financial decisions. Any superintendent of schools has that very difficult, maybe even impossible, task of making sound educational decisions while at the same time balancing the books. Failing at both is unfortunate; but succeeding at only one or the other is not good either.

  15. dec. 1st is hintons last day. since he “stayed” until dec. 1st. he gets his insurance paid by the taxpayers for 1 more month…sly like a fox…

  16. Why am I not surprised. Fear, intimidation and sly are the adjectives I would use to describe Hinton.

  17. hope the next supt. has a little more experience and is not so devisive. hope hinton enjoys traveling for edison….again. I can hear him now telling school districts how FANTASTIC edison is….ughhhhh

  18. The proposed high school boundaries and committee recommendations for 2010-2011 school year are on D150’s website under the student tab.
