From the Journal Star:
Peoria County Judge Rebecca Steenrod sentenced [Henry] Holling to one year of court supervision, 100 hours of public service and a three month suspension of his driver’s license starting March 9. He must also pay $2,200 courts fees and fines before Wednesday. It is Holling’s first DUI.
Holling was just hired as the interim city manager for the City of Peoria last night.
Lucky him… a DUI would get you fired from a lot of places.
This sets the bar as to hiring in the City Of Peoria. Drink & drive & DUI – get a job. Are other people that work for the city at a higher standard? Why? Or is no one qualified other than Mr. Holling for the job? Will his 100 hours of public service be the city mannager? Or will we see him out picking up litter for the mayor’s litter comm? And why wait till March 9th for suspension?
I wonder if his term as city manager counts toward the 100 hours of required public service?!
This is the lowest this council has sunk to. It is hard to believe that they couldn’t find someone else to take over.
Today I discovered this paragraph on the recently re-designed City of Peoria website. You can find it too when you click here http://www.ci.peoria.il.us/elected-officials Does anyone besides me view this as disingenuous? Perhaps the “elected officials” haven’t met with marketing. What a joke.
“The Elected Officials of the City of Peoria exists only to serve its citizens. To that end the City will limit itself to providing, maintaining, and upgrading basic services consistent with a family-oriented community. These things will be accomplished through openness and prudent use of revenues. Every action taken by the Council or City employees on behalf of the citizens will be an example of impeccable personal integrity”
truth in advertising laws don’t apply to city governments. Now you know why.
Ah come on, it was a just a DUI. It’s not like he killed anyone playing a prank with a roman candle in a locked room. He was probably driving VERRRRRRRRY carefully.
