Hope Haste got a good night’s sleep last night….

The National Weather Service reports this tonight:

Overnight: Periods of snow after midnight. Low around 23. Southeast wind between 7 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Sunday: Periods of snow, mainly before noon. High near 29. Southeast wind 5 to 15 mph becoming northeast. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Somebody get the Red Bull ready for street department manager David Haste; looks like some more 21½-hour days are on the way.

Of course, the good news is, maybe the poor guy will make enough in overtime pay to afford a stove for his house.

  1. What was the outcome of that “investigation”? The employees say they didn’t see him through the week yet he worked 21 hours a day not to mention he’s a salaried employee and he accrued $5500 in overtime.
Are these rumors true? What has been done to investigate this? Has anything been resolved or do we just continue allowing this scam?

  2. In today’s PJS story about preparations for the storm, Haste wasn’t available for comment. Apparently the city hasn’t learned anything about communication after the least fiasco. They should be initiating communication with all media when even a moderate storm is predicted. Their motto should be, Don’t call us, we’ll call you. Bloomington declared a parking ban Saturday afternoon for 7 a.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday. TV news said they would let people know if Peoria did anything. Hard to do when people are unavailable for comment. Our street was plowed about 4 a.m., so I appreciate that. But it’s untinkable to me that there is no improvement in the city’s previous communication breakdown. Taking the initiative takes a lot of heat off.

  3. It’s now 5:40 p.m. and our street, though not a main snow route, still hasn’t seen a plow! Come on, this wasn’t a blizzard.
