  1. What I want to know is how you can go 8 years without paying a shoplifting fine and not have a warrant for arrest issued?   Isn’t there a pay by due date or go to jail clause?  Can you just blow off fines like that?

  2. Its about time Joan did this , all the mug has come back to bite Ms. Gordon….. Joan is a decent person who has worked very hard within her community and beyond .

  3. Good for Joan.  Gordon slings mud and it did not stick, so sling her mud back upon her. I had to clean all of the mud out of our mail box from the Gordon campain. Go Joan GO!

  4. The last frames were the best.  Showing Ryan and Blago as examples of the “character” of Springfield was right on.  Notice they come from different parties, too.  If we are ever going to improve things we have to put aside parties and call a rotten egg a rotten egg.  And it’s not “negative campaigning” if it’s the truth.   Krupa gives us the facts.

  5. Like Blagojevich, Jehan Gordon started false negative ads from the get go in an attempt to remake her opponent into a candidate as bad as she is.  That’s the only her campaign people thought they could run such a damaged candidate and win.  Well, Gordon’s attacks aren’t working but this one sure as hell will work–first of all it’s all true.

  6. “No one better was around?”

I thought we were all saying the same thing about Schock.

    P.S. Maybe Callahan as well………?

Sorry to say, but when we are talking about any local election, I am not looking at who will represent ‘us’ better in Springfield or Washington, but who will do the least amount of DAMAGE once they get there.      Damn.  I am brilliant.

  7. Terribly disapointed in both campaigns-the candidates shouldn’t let organizers run their campaigns, they should do it themselves, regardless of where they get the money. Same with Schock and Callahan!

  8. I don’t live in this district, so I really don’t have a favorite.  But, I really am curious to know how anyone could vote for Ms. Gordon.  Unlike most negative ads, this one is completely true.  At the same time, Ms. Krupa seems to be just the type of person who would make a difference in Springfield.   So, if you intend to vote for Ms. Gordon, could you tell me (us) why?   (the only legitimate reason I can think of is – party affiliation.  i.e. she may not be qualified, but she’s our candidate and I’m sticking with her – sound familiar, republicans?)

  9. Mahkno,
Not only does no one chase down misdemeanor warrants in Peoria County, the only way the over 300 felony warrant holders get arrested is incidental to a traffic stop or if federal money comes in to make drug busts. But crime is down in Peoria!

  10. Krupa has slinging mud since the beginning of this campaign… how is this ad different other than it has a sense of desperation to it? What about the attendence records? What about Jehan’s inexperience and spreading herself too thin?
Isn’t that what we really want in a campaign? We don’t want to have to investigate for ourselves. We want the candidates to dig up the dirt and let it fly. Afterall, as “The Todd” on Scrubbs says: Catfight!

  11. Oops. Wait. I’m having a Limbaugh moment. Powell must be a Racist Pukebag.

    Corrected.

  12. Vonster, as Knight in Dragonland knows well, there WAS a better candidate out there….in the primary.  Gordon calls his tactics (and Joan’s) gutter politics?  remarkable the gall of her.  If the media had done their job, then the 8 year’s of absconding would have been seen on more than one newscast before the primary. But they didn’t want to “pile on”.  Well boo hoo, now.  The dems could have had a candidate with a record of accomplishment, but instead, they just get one with a record.

  13. I wonder if anyone filed write in paperwork for the 92nd district slot?   If there is, maybe the blogosphere should promote that person.  I don’t like either candidates.   I want more options.

  14. Another race I won’t be voting for either candidate. The said thing is there are plenty of people who would do great  but they don’t want the bs that comes with it.

  15. The only two problems I have with Krupa is her association with Schock [a BIG problem], and her ‘elitest’ attitude….. I mean you all have to admit, no one in the world is more annoying than a Peoria Republican.

As a Dem, I will consider voting for Krupa.

C.J. has commented on this in the past, the Dems gave the 18th over to Schock & Co. without a fight [as per the ‘invisible’ contract – GM]. I guess we are not worth dumping any money into.

  16. Mayer (Gordon’s primary challenger) should have filed write in paperwork.  Bet there are many more Dems who would gladly have been voting for him instead.

  17. Gordon had this one coming to her after all of the filthy crap that her Madigan cronies mailed out with her permission.  This thing is solidly in the gutter.

  18. New voice, She is far from elitist. She has worked with the downtrodden a large part of her professional career. I really wish you had met her at the “Meet the candidate” event. I guarantee you you’d be voting for her then.

  19. I remember Blagojevich running his negative ads for almost a year.  It always reminded me of mobster mentality.  Unfortunately, it worked for him.

When I saw your ad, Joan, I chuckled and cheered for you.  YOU GO GIRL!

  20. Diane, I agree, I challenge anyone to visit the Heartland Clinic that Joan helped to build.  It’s an insult to voters to portray her as elitist.  Yes, this ultra liberal is agreeing with Diane Vespa.  Joan Krupa has served this community well and she is a class act.  I just hope that voters are pitching Gordon’s negative mailers in the recycle bin!

  21. I challenge anyone to visit the Heartland Clinic that Joan helped to build.

Did she do this work “gratis” or was she paid handsomely by her board?

  22. At this point–I can’t help but believe that most voters recognize that Joan’s intergrity and qualifications make her the best choice for the state legislature. Any votes against her will probably come from Democratic voters who will remain loyal to party. I think the greatest endorsement for Joan is that expressed by Sharon Kennedy. Her “Democratic” voice raised in favor of Joan has to be convincing. And Sharon’s experience with Joan is from personal contact with Joan in political settings.

  23. Diane, etc.
Not an elitist?  I met Joan several times…very nice lady, but working with the downtrodden and being one of the downtrodden are far from the same thing.  Hard working, conscientious, some limited amount of fashion sense….the list goes on.  She does well, but before we start launching the Mother Theresa balloons, lets see if anyone can answer Tulips question.

At least I agree with your assessment of Krupa.  YOUR assessment of Schock?  Spooky.

Unless you people shape up and vote for the best candidates, NONE of you will be invited to my OBAMA / BIDEN VICTORY PARTY!!!

  24. Sharon,
Are you supporting Schock for the same reason?  Does Kennedy’s “Democratic” voice sing for Aaron?  Does it sing for LaHood?  I’ll bet it sings for every local Republican!

I predict a Krupa win.  Be happy with that.

  25. I’m not sure about LaHood–but probably for Aaron.  My own voice–for Aaron and Lyons–I guess there’s not much to be said for a secret ballot, right?  I will continue to vote for Aaron until he makes some political decision with which I disagree strongly.  Since Aaron was in Springfield and Joan wishes to take his place, I feel he has been and she will be better in that position than would a Democrat.  Chicago and its Democratic majority in Springfield run things–a Republican from down state runs a better chance of fighting for down state interests–just my opinion.  My guess is that Sharon Kennedy feels much the same–but I shouldn’t (and can’t really) speak for her.  I detect that you are critical of her for her independent vote–I, on the other hand, admire her for it.  I’m really not all that “political,” so my vote is generally not very politically motivated–and changes with the wind.  My wind is blowing more to the Democratic side this year–with two exceptions.  Other people’s votes generally do not upset me much.  We all have to vote our conscience.  Go, Obama!

  26. New Voice: Your comment, “Not an elitist? I met Joan several times…very nice lady, but working with the downtrodden and being one of the downtrodden are far from the same thing.”
If we only voted for the “downtrodden,” our ballots would be blank, wouldn’t they? How many of the downtrodden are on the ballot nationally or locally? We have to make judgment calls as to whom will work the best and the most for the the “least” among us–and that is one of the principles that guide my voting–hopefully, the most. I believe it is a Biblical principle.

  27. I too have met Joan Krupa in her capacity at the Heartland Clinic and in my humble opinion she is an “elitist”. My association with her was not pleasant and I was humiliated by her. This definitely sways my vote. But I will not be voting for Gordon either.
