McArdle’s Revenge: Mary Davis busted

Via the Journal Star:

Mary C. Davis, principal at Charles Lindbergh Middle School for five years before moving into central administration in 2008 to head up all the district’s principals, was charged Friday with 16 felony counts of official misconduct and theft. … If convicted, she faces up to seven years in prison. Davis was ordered to appear in court on May 19.

She’s not convicted yet, of course, but the State’s Attorney has certainly been taking his time building his case. The prosecutor’s office began investigating her last fall after Lindbergh principal Julie McArdle was fired. McArdle alleged that she was fired out of retaliation for blowing the whistle on Davis. She subsequently sued the district over it. That suit also makes allegations against other district officials; it will be interesting to see what effect the outcome of Davis’s case has on McArdle’s.

  1. WMBD reported that Mary Davis has been charged with 8 counts of theft and 8 counts of official misconduct.

  2. Peanut gallery doesn’t seem to be open for comments. When do we get our money back from her being on paid leave all this time?

  3. Now what will District 150 do about Julie? What about charges against Hinton, Broderick and the Board? When will Davis have to pay back the money the taxpayers have been paying her? Is Davis still on paid leave?

  4. Checks and Balances: All financial record keeping should be required using district issued computers so records could never be “lost”–they would be in the bowels of the server for all eternity.

  5. It is easy – terribly easy – to shake a man’s faith in himself. To take advantage of that, to break a man’s spirit is devil’s work.
    – George Bernard Shaw

Well, now, it seems the devil’s work is done; it’s time for Mary to give him what she owes him….

I’ve stood by you since I don’t know when, Jujubee. I’m still standing by you and will as long as God allows.

Thank you to all of those who stood (and continue to stand) by Julie. God bless you all!

P.S. See you on the 19th!

  6. To all of those Mary Davis supporters – Where are you NOW? She has been indicted of 8 counts STEALING from CHILDREN and 8 counts of official misconduct. She bought herself a $475.00 INK PEN…..that alone should force her to spend time in prison. Who the ef needs a $475 INK PEN….I hope that Mary Davis feels half of the pain that she put Julie McArdle through a year ago, today. Wonder who all she is pointing that bony little finger at over on Wisconsin Ave.?

  7. I would like to know which board member told Dave Haney that they were UNAWARE of the allegations McArdle was making against Davis when they fired McArdle. That is an outright lie. Walvoord, Wolfmeyer and the entire board knew Julie was making these allegations and Julie can prove it. It’s one thing to lie to a reporter – it’s quite another when you are on a witness stand under oath. Hope the Board members are brushing up on their facts.

  8. That’s correct, wtf?! I predict the board’s memory will become much more lucid in a court of law. Julie has absolute documented proof of when she reported MD’s crimes to the board. There will be no way they can get around the truth. MD thought she could and look where she ended up….

  9. If McArdle’s suit gets far enough, every single board member is going to have to give a deposition and be asked when they knew she was making accusations about Mary Davis.

  10. Now maybe the “yes men” board members and administrators will quit acting like jackasses. They may be in court as well, so they better get their stories straight. With one down there is at least two more to go (mary w. and dan b.) What the board members and the previous hinton did to Julie was criminal. As in the case of Mary Davis, there is a law of reciprocity.

  11. All they need is the recording of the executive session where they discussed her firing – unless it “mysteriously” disappears as it has in the past.

  12. For those die-hard Mary Davis fans, there will be a celebration under the Cedar Street Bridge, a “crow-eating” party. All-you-can-eat crow will be provided, just bring a lawn chair. Come on down and enjoy yourself, hell, invite Mary to come along. It promises to be a good time to enjoy “simply the best”……..go McArdle!

  13. Now that the State’s Attorney has completed an “expensive forensic audit,” would the defenders of Mary Davis please step up and explain her innocence? I recall that when the McArdle lawsuit was filed there were many on this blog who came to Mary’s defense. While it makes me sick to think of how many tax dollars will be wasted on this latest D150 issue, I might feel better if I knew that someone who lied and cheated the taxpayers would end up behind bars!

  14. Cameron: Remember, this is Kevin “Catch and Releas” Lyons in charge. The guy talks tough, but settles A LOT. He also loses a lot on appeal on the rare occasion he does go the distance.

And I’d be happier if so many people were gleaful about this. This is sad news.

  15. Billy–I don’t understand your post(s). Are you being ironicle? If Julie notified admn or bd members via e-mail, it’s on the server, as is ALL on-line activity. What is sad?

  16. I’m interested to hear the Davis supporters also…..I really like the “group of angry parents” defense.

  17. Billy, even if Lyons gets a reduced plea, that’s a big WIN for the common Peorian. If they can show even the slightest amount of corruption in D150, it could be a big turn-around.

  18. Seems I read awhile back that Mary Davis lawyered up months ago with someone from Decatur. Hinton and Broderick were involved in this lawsuit, also. Mary doesn’t want to do jail time. Perhaps she’ll testify against them to help lighten her sentence, if that becomes an option for her.

  19. Isn’t that interesting? She will likely appeal…hope she’s got money to burn. Appeals are expensive and rarely won. Maybe somewhere out there someone who believes her nonsense will be willing to be a witness. I’m sure she and her family will soon fill these pages with their own special brand of unfounded and hateful comments. Get ready everyone…

  20. MyOhMy–it’s about time isn’t it?! Enough of the taxpayers (and I’d suspect McArdle’s) money wasted on this “nonsense”.

  21. Standby for the threats. I knew this would be tossed and even posted so way back, All I got was hateful replies and even threatened by what I suppose was a member of her family. There was always this possibility: The District didn’t want her as a Principal anymore.

  22. Yes, Mccardle got the last laugh. Davis deemed unethical and nonremediable(criminal) by Judge Btandt. The truth is a ray of sunlight or a lightening bolt(if you are Mary Davis)
