Museum officials to address Peoria County Board

Here’s an interesting item on the Peoria County Board agenda for Thursday, Nov. 8:

A presentation by Lakeview Museum and Caterpillar officials on the Peoria Riverfront Museum Project and the Caterpillar Visitor’s Center.

Will they just be giving an update? Will they be announcing how much in New Markets Tax Credits they will receive? Will they be asking for public money?

  1. My guess would be “public money.” Its not like they haven’t tried this before. NMT Credits….? Sure thing. Now we can order an even big movie screen! What a smoke screen! You can bet they are going to have their hand out at some point. Maybe the 21 cent property tax increase?

  2. Somehow, I have the feeling that if they had gotten sufficient NMT credits, there would have been a ticker-tape parade down Main Street by now. The fact that there’s no parade and they’re making a presentation to the county board… I’m pretty confident they’re going to be asking for money.

  3. They may want the County to institute a COUNTY WIDE, Peoria County aka City of Peoria Sales tax would be my guess. Just a guess, no direct knowledge of the purpose of the presentation.

  4. Gary and all. Come visit and hear what they will be asking for first hand. Approx. 6:30 4th floor County Court House tomorrow. Enter courthouse off mainsreet.

I’ll be listening and interpreting what I hear.
