New theme… maybe

You may notice that I’ve switched my theme. I’ve been using a WordPress theme called Wu-Coco for, oh I don’t know, maybe three years? I rarely fiddle with the theme on my blog since it can be disorienting, but I felt like maybe this January it could use some freshening up. So now I’m using a theme called Paalam (which I’m told is the Tamil word for “bridge”). Let me know what you think of it. If you all just hate it, I can easily switch back to my old theme.

The main thing I like about this theme is that it’s wider. The columns in Wu-Coco are a bit narrow, especially the main column. Anyway, give it a test run, tell me what you think. Thanks!

  1. There is a noticeable performance hit on my older PC with the new them. The much newer laptop shows not obvious performance problems with the new theme.

  2. CJ: Nice style. Interesting left-handed column format. If it makes you happy and keeps you blogging ….. hooray! 🙂

  3. running Windows 6.1 mobile… US Cellular HTC Touch…loads super fast.

It was always cool to see who has recently waded/weighed in at the outset.

Thanks for providing such a nice venue for us, C. J.

  4. I keep my favorites open on the lefthand sidebar of my browser which cuts off the righthand side of some websites. With your toolbar on the left and text on the right, I have to scroll over to read your posts. The theme is nice, but I’d sure like it if your toolbar was on the right.

If there is a way to adjust my browser to make the page fit better, I don’t know what it is.

  5. Actually I’ll be upgrading to a wide screen monitor soon, so it will be a moot point, but does anyone else have this problem? Surely there has to be a way to make a web page shrink to fit in my browser while still having my favorites sidebar open.

  6. I just started reading it. I haven’t figured out how to drop you a line, so I’ll just leave a comment. I’m enjoying your blog. I can’t figure out how you can
    A) have time to write it every day and read all the comments and respond
    B) be well-informed on every subject
    C) have an opinion on everything
    D) be logical and grammatically correct all the time
    E) know that I was who you thought I was when I only left my first name
    F) be polite and above-board all the time

I’ve only been reading for a few days, so haven’t read all 3 1/2 years’ worth, but you’ve already opened my eyes on several things, including the first convincing argument I’ve EVER heard for the death penalty. I’m still against it, but you at least have me thinking. I see you every Thursday, by the way, as I fly by your window delivering my kids to their CBS classes. I finally started blogging about five months ago, and as I read yours, I realize that mine is pure fluff, but still a needed outlet.
