I’m not going to have time this weekend to do a lot of blogging, so here’s an open thread where you can discuss whatever is on your mind: District 150, Lincoln’s 200th birthday, President Obama’s visit to Peoria, great zombie literature, or whatever.
HITC: “What I was saying is that if you are a “true believer” in Darwinism and natural selection that you should NOT intervene. I was not advocating that position or its natural extensions.”
And MY POINT was that it is exactly those that seem to believe in Darwin’s theories that are more likely to show compassion to those less able to adapt… despite the obvious ramifications. Who is it that is involved in environmental issues? Fundamentalist Christians? They are willing to help the homeless guy, maybe, when they aren’t out trying to raise a couple of million for a new church building or offshore bank account, private jet and security guarded mansion for their pastor.
NV: my father is an Angle (maybe a bit o’ Welsh). Loose those Saxon dogs to the Mideast oil fields.
What would you consider the difference between a “proven” theory and one that is “unproven”… in contrast to one that is “disproven”?
NO theory is ever sufficiently “proven”. That is the nature of the scientific method… all theories must stand up to constant scrutiny and are retested and reevaluated on an ongoing basis. (Only people like Al Gore, who is not a scientist, would state, “the debate is over”, the results are final.)
oh… although the cells are dark, I smuggled in some candles.
“NO theory is ever sufficiently “proven”. That is the nature of the scientific method… all theories must stand up to constant scrutiny and are retested and reevaluated on an ongoing basis.”
See………………….? Taken on faith; a belief that is not [always] based on proof. Confidence or trust in a person or thing [scientist, teacher, MD, PhD etc].
Was your mother a Pict?!?
I noticed via Drudgereport and KTNV TV in Las Vegas that conventions are cancelling due to belt tightening.
…And I was such a pro hotel/skyway/museum fan(not museum in it’s current conceptualflaws/risks). Now I’m getting a little jittery.

My mother was a shrubbery
I have been trying for sometime to get an anawer to my question as to who the people were in Mr. Schocks’ picture when he was sworn in-not names, but WHO are they-Shay, and the others. How important could they be to stand next to Mr. Schock instead of parents and those respnsible for putting him in. Diane V. says “e-mail me”, likes its a national security question. Can anyone answer?
Shawn Newell reporting today at http://1470wmbd.com/PCVAB-looking-cautiously-toward-2009/38535511 that”Peoria Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is bracing for the worst in 2009, but hoping for the best.”
It certainly is difficult to predict. Good luck and thanks to Brent Lonteen!

Wacko: I’m not too up on Aaron’s power players. Sorry I’m not much help on this one.

Rail expansion in stimulus bill. No doubt local Republicans and Aaron Schock are fiercely opposed to this.

When is someone going to stop all of the graft and corruption within District 150? It is insane the way some employees are “cleaning out the district’s bank accounts” by not actually working their hours yet they get paid for them anyway.
In District 150 you are a problem employee if you do not subscribe to the accepted criminal activity that occurs each and everyday within the school district.
