On Monday around supper time, I received an automated phone survey that asked two questions:
- “Do you consider yourself a Tea Party Patriot?”
- “Do you support Sarah Palin?”
Anyone else get this call?

One does not have to be a white supremacist to attend a klan rally, nor does one have to be a anti-Semite to have been a Nazi Youth. There can be little argument that these Tea party events are white supremacist love fests, and minority blaming pity parties. That is not why some people go, but that is what they get.
That they are nothing like what the Libertarians began 3 years ago or so, under the Aaron Russo banner of America: Freedom to Fascism, is inarguable.
That original movement was based upon shutting down the Federal Reserve and the Internal Revenue Service; based upon the unconstitutionality of the personal income tax.
I don’t think you need to worry about Packa anymore… he is busy doing is homework!
Exxon $15 billion and no taxes: http://thinkprogress.org/2010/04/06/exxon-tax/
OK, thanks. Got it. That’s basically what the Forbes article stated, but it was based on ’09 and $15 billion wasn’t what Exxon made, it was what they paid in taxes but not U.S. taxes. This is just so confusing how we are getting different “facts”.
I was encouraged by the report from NBC nightly news last night. They were reporting from a Tea Party rally and asked an African-American man if he felt “uncomfortable” at the event since there weren’t very many African-Americans there. He said “no,these are my people- Americans. I hope some day we all can feel that way.
Of course I’ll do as you ask, CJ, but since I’ve been highlighted I hope that you’ll keep in mind the type of furtive name-calling that you properly featured or illustrated and which is employed by those such as Jon, emtronics and charlie. Are their surreptitious insults now interdire? I suppose not. The insults “little klan fests” and “Ahhh, back in the good ole days, when owning black people was legal, when women couldn’t vote…” is a name-calling regime. Don’t be fooled. Jon attempts to dismiss his comment as simply sarcasm but sarcasm isn’t defined as a form of civil conduct or a virtue. It is defined as contemptuous derision meant to hurt. I think Jon is misleading in his explanation and has been inappropriate. His comment is derogatory though he dismisses that assertion (just as emtronics attempted with his Bush/Hitler “observation”).
Just to go on a bit further, you used the term “accuse” (and rightly so) in your post to describe that which some have written about a whole group of people. I “accused” one person of being stupid and foolish. Not to make an excuse, (and I apoligize) but that insult, I feel, though impolite, is of less consequence than the countless democrats and liberals relentless use of populist demagogy to paint a whole movement of people as an ignorant, fully insured, greedy, cross-burning, militia-class band of racists who have lynching in their background because the majority of the movement is primarily populated with caucasians.
And the accusations and demagogy go on with some discernable lack of lucidity in some cases.

Listen, Packa, listen to what is being said and the language being used.
“We have to take our country back!” Whose country? Who is it that has the country now that isn’t American? Who is it you want to have control of the government?
“Regime” When was the last time you heard that term used to describe an American Presidential Administration?
How many tax increases did Bush initiate and how many tax cuts has Obama already inacted? And yet you don’t like THIS President’s tax policies…
How many Americans died in Iraq fighting an illegal war, while the legitimate warin Afghanistan went underfunded and undermanned?Obama is withdrawing troops fromm Iraq and increasing the presence in Afghanistan, something Bush shold have done 7 years ago… who is the commander in chief?
Reducing nuclear weapons instead of ratcheting up hatred and mistrust of us around the world… just like Reagan called for… and Obama is selling out the country’s national security.
People like you are sheep being tossed about by the voices of Goldline, Pajamagram and Lifelock. Is that name calling? Maybe, but I happen to have dedicated this part of my life to teaching people to think for themselves, and to resist the mindnumbing mantras of snake oil salesmen.
The world does not revolve around you or any one of us. Polticians, in general, do not have you in mind when they are deciding policy. Locally, the museum, the hotel project, the Kellar railtrail, whatever… it isn’t about what’s best for YOU. Frankly, they don’t care about you or me. It is about what makes the ECONOMY go.
It is the same in Washington.
They, Dems and Reps do what they think will make the economy better… what do they think? Whatever their campaign contributors tell them to think. Who are their campaign contributors? BIG BUSINESS.
Why are you upset with Obama? Please… be specific. What is it about his administration that you find so … radical?
charlie, are you really a teacher?
“Regime”? Are you referring to my use of the word? If so, it was used in the context of regimen and not in any governmental context.
charlie — “…listen to what is being said and the language being used. “We have to take our country back!” Whose country? Who is it that has the country now that isn’t American? Who is it you want to have control of the government?”
charlie, here is some of the language that was used by democrats during the last presidential campaign. I watched some of the democratic debates. I remember most if not all the democratic candidates taking advantage of the phrase “take our country back”. So who was it that had the country then that wasn’t American?
