Pundit problems

If you’re having trouble accessing the Peoria Pundit site, so is Billy Dennis. I received this e-mail from him moments ago:

Here’s what I know. My server on which blogpeoria.com sites are hosted was experiencing heavy loads all day yesterday. I submitted five trouble tickets on the issue, one each time the server was down.

I was beginning to discuss moving my siles and data bases to another server, when moments ago, I noticed the entire site was suspended. This can happen for a builling issue, when required by law because of illegal content, or because one particular account was slowing the entire system.

I suspect it is the latter. Moving Peoria Pundit to blogpeoria.com may have stressed this server.

I’ll do what it takes to get blogpeoria.com back up. It might required moving the site to a dedicated server or a virtual private server.

Hope everything gets worked out soon, Billy.

  1. They’ve agreed to restore my account to see if a few changes have fixed the problem.

But if you see it down after this message appears, it was taken down again.

The solution might be to move to a dedicated server, which is about twice as expensive as what I’m paying now.

  2. Emert, did you come on here just to diss Billy Dennis? WTF Dude!!! (Sorry CJ if that goes against the rules of this forum, but I couldn’t help myself!!)

  3. Well, it IS screwing up again. Attempts to fix the server load issues (caused by an increased number of hits to ALL blogs) created a badly corrupted file. So the folks at my hosting company will restore from a file backup performed on May 25. I have a database backup from early morning on May 27. I think we’ll lose the posts made yesterday, whern all is said and done.

  5. Oh, I’m not. I may in fact move from A Small Orange. I have the most expensive “shared” server they offer. The next step up is a Virtual Private Server, but they offer no routine management, like monitoring to see if the site is up. If this problem happened on one of those environments, I would be up a creek.

I need something that providers me the resources I need to handle the site’s many blogs, plus some support when I need it.

Gee, I wonder if there are any LOCAL companies willing to trade some server space for free advertising?

BTW: My databases are being restored as I type this. At most, the posts made yesterday will be lost.

  6. Why yes I did. Who wants to know? ImaSwede?? It’s MR Emert to you.
(CJ, hmmm sounds like hate to me or is this just an opinion from a person named “ImaSwede”?)

  7. You’re awfully sensitive for a blogger, Mr. Emert. No, I thought ImaSwede was just ribbing you, not hating you. I’ve been treated a lot worse than that by my friends. 😛

  8. I’m frightened, Uncle Em! I’m frightened! (Uncle Em’s image appears in the crystal ball) <~~~~pseudo quote from The Wizard of Oz

  9. Billy sez “I think we’ll lose the posts made yesterday, whern all is said and done.”

even those nude photos I posted on your site of scarlett Johannsen?

  10. Uncle Em, heck no!! I’m more like Dorothy!!! Geesh! Don’t you find me enchanting????
