  1. Here’s the latest for those of you who love flying:
“Lamperd, a “firearm training system” company, has patented a bracelet that delivers debilitating shocks when remotely triggered. Their app for this is aviation safety: they’re proposing that the TSA could force everyone who flies to wear one of these and then flight-attendants could zap us into a stupor if we turn out to be Al Quaeda.”

It reads “A method of providing air travel security for passengers traveling via an aircraft comprises situating a remotely activatable electric shock device on each of the passengers in position to deliver a disabling electrical shock when activated; and arming the electric shock devices for subsequent selective activation by a selectively operable remote control disposed within the aircraft. The remotely activatable electric shock devices each have activation circuitry responsive to the activating signal transmitted from the selectively operable remote control means. The activated electric shock device is operable to deliver the disabling electrical shock to that passenger.”

Wonder how many sheep will meekly submit to that? No doubt some will argue we have to do this for “security” I suppose.

  2. Mouse: As if it isn’t bad enough that the tech was granted a patent (USPTO, wake the f*** up), somebody actually thinks this is a good idea?? Sheep, indeed.

  3. ben, I am hoping people will let our reprentatives know up front that we will not stand for it. It sounds crazy, but if you told people 40 years ago we would put up with the CR– we put up with everyday they would have locked you up. If you notice, they “test the waters” on a lot of this stuff in a place or two, and see if people will put up with it (like the x-rays that see through clothes). If people meekly submit, that green lights the next outrage, and they roll it out nationwide.

  4. I have been trying to think of a way to invent a device that can remotely fire the bullets in the possession of another person, that way if you are sneaking up on me to kill me, I could push a button and “disarm” and surprise you. Of course I would be violating your rights.

  5. Mouse it sounds like it is only one frequency that zaps all wearers simultaneously???? Is there a link for this information?

  6. And what happens to those with heart problems that get zapped. Gonna be a lot of dead people that get killed with this device instead of the intended terrorist problem.

  7. Flight attendants need to stick with bringing me food, drink, pillows and blankets, beyond that I question their competence.

  8. Karrie, giving up flying is like giving up smoking, always a good idea, but if TSA takes this seriously and puts these things on planes, it’s only a matter of time before everybody going into a public building will be required to have one. Then it will everybody entering a school. It’s “for the children” after all, that we have to do something about school violence. Then….
