  1. I will be at the NAACP forum on March 21st, recording it for CAPtions to air on March 27th and March 30th.

  2. Did the Sheridan Triangle come up at the forum at Lippman’s? It seems to have been lost in the shuffle/emphasis on the Warehouse District – just another report sitting on the shelf.

  3. Sorry, but I can’t vote for CJ…or Gary…or Eric Turner or any Peoria candidate for that matter. I live in Marquette Heights, and we have an important school tax referendum ourselves to pass. Dist. 102 has been shorted over $200,000 by the State (just like all schools have been),
and need to raise taxes; otherwise, extra-curriculars, band, chorus, and about 5 teachers will be gone next year. I don’t like more taxes any more than the next person, but I believe in a good, rounded-education in a school district. Both my girls went through the music program at Dist. 102, taught them more than just music.

  4. Cj,
I didn’t make the Center Bluff forum was ill all weekend and decided to keep it at home. Could you expound more on what was said about the Triangle at that forum. What explanations were given as to why it was not completed? Also note that not everyone was invited to that forum.

  5. I’d like to hear the triangle answer as well – something new and shiny (Warehouse Dist) caught the city council’s eye? Not all of the candidates were invited to Central Bluff forum? Or it wasn’t open to people not living in neighborhood?

  6. I’ll try my best to remember…. During Weaver’s introductory speech, he brought up the subject himself as an example of the City coming up with plans but not implementing them. He talked about the importance of implementation. He left right after his speech, so he wasn’t there for the Q&A portion. Someone asked about Sheridan Triangle during the Q&A period, and Spain answered. He started by saying we have four form districts (he got three out of four of them correct — he said the Wisconsin corridor was a form district instead of Prospect Road), and that he’s always supported funding for the Sheridan Triangle. At that point in the evening, only one candidate was answering a given question, so no one else spoke to it as I recall. Later, they started having all of us answer every question and restricted our answers to 30 seconds each. Interestingly, there were more questions about the Warehouse District than Sheridan Triangle.

I didn’t get the impression that anyone was excluded from the meeting. In fact, before the forum started, they added another neighborhood to the association as part of their regular business, so the association appeared to be rather inclusive.

  7. So – that’s the third forum Chuck Weaver has left after his speech – no Q and A for Mr. Weaver.

  8. Kohlrabi, I concur. I don’t trust him.

Why weren’t all candidates invited to this meeting? I’m curious.
