I considered throwing my name in the running for Gary Sandberg’s seat. However, after talking it over with my family, I decided this just isn’t the right time (not that I had any illusions of actually being chosen, but I believe you shouldn’t apply for something unless you really are willing to serve).

Notable applicants: A couple of former council members who didn’t run for reelection the last time (Gulley, Spears); a current District 150 school board member (Ross); former city attorney (Ray); recent council also-rans (Sterling-Polk, Williams); former City of Peoria Communications Manager Alma Brown; and neighborhood advocate and “Friend Of Peoria Chronicle” Conrad Stinnett.
Notable omission: Patrick Sullivan didn’t throw his hat in the ring.

Pdw; remember “Broken Windows, Weed & Seed, POP, Neat, and so on” They will run it out spend the budget amount of money and then start another “fad” effort. What next ? “Don’t hurt me”? It is a war plain and simple and the front lines are in the inner city streets & neighborhoods. Boots on the ground are your only hope for prompt action. Long term fix, current leaders dont have the fix. They do a fancy plan that makes some people feel good, become re-elected then do another plan again. I call it the “Peoria Plan” Each budget cycle the buy more plans and bookshelves to put the old plans on. Get out while you can.
