  1. In all honesty if the city is going to ratify Bradley’s expansion into the Arbors, Cooper St. make a much better line than the alleyway behind Maplewood. Having the divided street with the planted medians would be a much more attractive border for Bradley and the homeowners.

  2. Wow. At that rate of expansion Bradley will be all the way to Western Ave. in like…. 150 years.

  3. Thanks for sharing these C.J. Looks like a very exciting project and one that will benefit not only Bradley but the community also. Looks like first class developments and landscaping all around.

  4. Looks like bradley is going to make the jump across main into the Uplands with a little tag on boundry change. The sorority house is already there so why not give them a little expansion across the street. You people are in for some fun in a 10 years or so when the Uplands becomes the next Arbor District and they eat you alive. Welcome to the institutional zone………

  5. Right on duke. Sadly the neighborhood ‘leaders’ in the Uplands seem all to willing to go along with this little jump. But then I suppose we should not be surprised, it is the same group that backed away when the Arbors was still willing to fight. It is the same group that seems to be okay with carving up Elmwood Ave. between Bradley Epworth Church and commercial interests, like Avanti’s (who wants to expand). Interestingly it is also the same group that fought off the Med-Tech district.

At a meeting once, I quipped half jokingly that the Uplands would be a great location for a Bradley version of the Assembly Hall (UofI) for Men’s B’ball. Prescient?

  6. They are going to eat you up bit by bit, instead of in just one gulp like the Arbor District. The Sorority is a gateway purchase then they will move on to the rental properties next door, after all they are run down and it would be good for the area, then they will need a bit more parking so you will give up the row behind them and on and on ect. Ever read ” The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein…… someday you can come back to the uplands and sit on your stump.

  7. Haven’t read that particular Shel Silverstein but you are right on. The odd thing is there is so little outcry over this. Ten years ago this would not see the light of day. Residents are so sick of the slum lords and the unwillingness or inability of the city to hold the people accountable, that many are beginning to see Bradley as the better slum lord. Then also, maybe some folks got some wild fantasy that they will win the half million payout too. Pfft.
