WYZZ leaves baseball fans with no signal

WYZZ-TV, channel 43, went off the air tonight during the eighth inning of the National League Championship Series. It could have been the final game, as the Giants led the series three games to one. As it turned out, the Phillies won, sending the series back to Philadelphia. Not that WYZZ viewers could know. All they could see was “No Signal.”

Nothing has been posted even yet on their website explaining the outage or apologizing. If you call the studio for information, forget it — you get sent to someone’s voice mail. I did get a real person in the news room who politely informed me that they were having “technical difficulties” and that “engineers are working on the problem and will get the station back on the air as soon as possible.” It wasn’t soon enough. The game ended with WYZZ still off the air.

I hope they get their “technical difficulties” fixed before the World Series starts.

  1. Really? This is worth a post? Baseball playoffs are what..the best out of 50 games? Of course it will go another game, they always do. It’s called cash. Besides, this is football season.

  2. Believe it or not, Em, there are many fans of the NATIONAL PASTIME who are thoroughly engaged in the playoffs. Obviously you aren’t in that category so try to imagine your emotions if the Sponge Bob marathon or the repeat showing at midnight of a monster truck show went off the air.

  3. “there are many fans of the NATIONAL PASTIME ”

The best thing possible for our upcoming national election is that the Baseball fans are too busy with the playoffs to go vote.

National Pastime…. why? because Baseball says it is?

Professional sports is such a waste of time. It is scripted, produced and controlled just like Professional Wrestling (and Roller Derby used to be).

That being said… I can’t help being addicted to The Chicago Bears. Someone help me!!!!

  4. While I didn’t watch the entire game last night, the one complaint I have with Fox & the playoffs, is that I think they are broadcasting it in wide-screen, as far as the graphics are concerned. (BTW, I still have a 27″ Standard TV with the big tube sticking out the back, and have Comcast Cable)

In the upper left hand corner is a display of inning, outs,
balls & strikes..but no score. But I can tell the graphic
continues to the left. On the right side corner, I can see the MLB logo, but it is cut off. I wonder if Fox realizes that not everyone has a Wide-Screen TV or HDTV yet in their home.

  5. I missed the game, so I didn’t notice. But later. The satellite image froze during TMZ and it lasted for about an hour. It came back and went to “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” then vanished again. This is a constant occurrence.

  6. Oh so I don’t like baseball and the dragged out playoffs into winter so I am a Sponge Bob fan. Yeah, that’s the average mentality of the baseball fan. Fair? Of course not. What an ass. Besides, Monster Truck fans have a higher IQ than most baseball fans.

  7. Emtronics, this is CJ’s blog and he can post anything he wants. If he feels its worthy of his time and space he can do it. Not everyone is a sports fan but many are and many are interested in knowing what happened to the game. Let it be.

  8. Gee SD Do you read the posts? I am not complaining about CJ’s post per se, just offered an opinion and I didn’t like the response I got from one of the posters.

  9. Emtronics, sounded exactly to me like you were complaining about CJ’s post. Exactly.

  10. District 150, that’s why you are sometimes wrong on these blogs too.

My original post was about CJ’s topic but my next was directed at another commenter.

  11. My folks always said that if you’re going to dish it out you better be able to take it.

    Gonna cry Number Two?
